Antique Counter Top General Store Display Double-Kay Nut Penny Candy Dispenser

  

All photographs are part of the description. Here is 100+ year old country store counter top candy dispenser made by Caru-Guss Mfg. Co of Bismark, North Dakota, for Double Kay, a trade name used by the Kelling-Karel Co of Chicago Ill. Max Kelling created the Double Kay line in 1909, and in 1924, he scrapped Kelling-Karel completely and reorganized under the Double Kay name.

So I have narrowed down the date of this dispenser to having been produced sometime between 1909 and 1924. It measures 21 inches wide, 9-1/2 inches deep, and is 16-1/2 inches tall. It is in excellent pre-owed condition with only one small bakelite knob missing, and one foot pad missing. I think the feet are adjustable so it can be leveled. I'm not sure if it would have had Double Kay printed on each jar, but I have seen it as such.

It is otherwise perfect including having all three jars in excellent condition one has a tiny sliver chip on the upper rim (it is the jar in the middle in the pictures). All three lids are excellent with complete intact porcelain inside and out. The base is also in excellent condition with intact porcelain on top and on the underside. The front of the base bears a black and gold Double Kay Salted Nuts d ecal, that also includes the Kelling-Karel Company name.

There is some wear to the decal. (picture) Most rare, however, are the three tin scoops which are almost ALWAYS MISSING from these old dispensers. All three original scoops are present, and all three bear the name Caru-Guss Mfg. Please review the photos for a complete description.
