SCARCE Antique PURE EAGLE WHITE LEAD PAINT Store Display Pre 1906 Cincinnati Oh
Due to the age and fragile nature of the resin composite material used I'm not sure there is another one like it in the world. It is almost impossible to find original Eagle White Lead advertising. I believe this piece to be a store display that would have been at a few stores local in Cincinnati at the time to promote their lead paint.
I'm not sure of that but it makes sense that during the time this item was manufactured that there were only a few made and that they would have been local promotional pieces to promote their paint products. This beautiful display is approximately 24" inches tall, 16" inches wide, depth of base 8 1/4" inches and width of base 9 1/2" inches.
It weighs just over 6 pounds. This piece shows wonderfully aged patina and great subject matter with the large Eagle.
There is a small diamond looking stone in the Eagles left eye but the right eye is missing the diamond like piece. I could have put a replacement stone in there but I chose to keep this item all original. It appears that there may have been a small repair done on the right side of the base but this doesn't take away from the incredible presentation of this piece. The company started in 1842 as the White Lead Company in Cincinnati Ohio. It later became Eagle White Lead Works in the 1850's. A merger with the Picher Lead Company of Joplin, Missouri occurred in 1906, becoming Eagle-Picher Lead which evolved into Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc. And finally Eagle Picher Technologies.
